Visit Nobska Light

The lighthouse is  located on the shore just east of Woods Hole Village in Falmouth, Massachusetts, on Cape Cod. Standing on a bluff, the lighthouse overlooks Falmouth, Martha's Vineyard, the Elizabeth Islands, Vineyard and Nantucket Sounds, and Woods Hole Passage. Until 2012 the light keeper's house served as the residence for the Commanding Officer of United States Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England

  • When visiting, please be respectful of the grounds and neighbors.  
  • The grounds are open to visit, photograph, and enjoy from dawn to dusk. 
  • The buildings are not currently open to the public. They will be in the future.

Directions

Nobska Light is a mile southeast of Woods Hole Village in the Town of Falmouth, Massachusetts, on Cape Cod.

Directions from Boston : Take the Southeast expressway (Route 93 South) to Route 3 South. Follow over the Sagamore Bridge to Route 6 west to the traffic circle at the Bourne Bridge. Follow directions below from Bourne Bridge.  

Directions from Hyannis: Take the Mid Cape Highway, MA Route 6, North to  exit 1 C (Sandwich/Route 6 N). Turn left on Route 6 west to the traffic circle at the Bourne Bridge. Follow directions below from Bourne Bridge.

From Providence/New York: Follow 95 North. Take the exit for I-195 East Providence (exit 20). Follow I-195 East to the Cape Cod/The Islands exit (exit 22A). Take the exit onto Route 25 South and cross over the Bourne Bridge to the traffic circle.

From Bourne Bridge: Go around the traffic circle to the exit onto MA-28 through the second traffic circle to Falmouth. MA-28 narrows to become Locust Street which continues straight through Falmouth and becomes Wood Hole Road. Go 3.1 miles on the Woods Hole Road then turn left onto Church Street, which becomes Nobska Road. The Lighthouse is on your left past the beach.

Tours may be canceled due to inclement weather or lack of volunteers. If you are coming a distance please email info@friendsofnobska.org to make sure the tower is open!

We may be open on special days depending on volunteer availability.  This schedule will be posted on our Facebook page and is subject to change.

When the tower is open for tours, people can go all the way up into the light room at the top. 

ADMISSION REGULATIONS:

                Children must be at least 6 years of age AND 45 inches tall to enter.

                Admission is free. Donations to support the lighthouse preservation and restoration are welcomed.

                The line will be closed for tours at the closing time above. Anyone in line by then will be admitted.

       Shoes and shirts required.

                No food or drink or smoking is permitted in the lighthouse.

                Backpacks, large purses, large camera bags not allowed in the light room.

                Infants in carrying pouches are not allowed in the lighthouse.

                No liability is accepted for personal items left unattended in or on the grounds of the lighthouse.


The light keeper's house is not currently open to the public. It will be in the future.
